is Hypnosis? Hypnosis is a
natural state of mind that occurs to varying degrees every day of our
lives. We enter hypnosis while daydreaming, watching TV, when experiencing
strong emotions, right before falling asleep, and even while driving
(have you ever missed your freeway exit?). While in this state of
mind you are highly suggestible. What is Hypnotherapy? In a hypnotherapy session you first discuss your goals with your therapist. Then a hypnotic state is created in which your subconscious mind (the most powerful area of your mind) is open and receptive to taking in desirable, positive suggestions. At this time you and your therapist revise, refine and reframe any thoughts and beliefs that are holding you back. The result is a powerful experience where you are an active participant in creating the life you desire. In addition to behavioral modification and motivational enhancement, hypnotherapy has proven to be a valuable adjunct in providing support to increase positive results of psychological and medical treatments.
